ABOUT US
Meet Our Pastor
Ben Wallenbeck grew up going to Grace Bible Baptist Church in New Paris, Indiana. He was saved at age 16 at a youth rally and surrendered his life to preaching God's Word at Camp CoBeAc the following year. After surrendering to preach, he prayed for an opportunity to fill that calling. At 18 years old, he began helping in his youth group, and at 19, he became the youth pastor. During this time as a youth pastor, he married his wife, Josie. For the next three years, he continued to work as a youth pastor and did pulpit supply for churches as needed. It was at a missions conference at Grace Bible that Ben and Josie felt the call to plant a church. Through prayer and much counsel, they set out by faith to plant a church in Columbia City.

Our Beliefs
INSPIRATION
We believe in the verbal and plenary inspiration of Scriptures both of the Old and New Testaments (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:21) The King James, Authorized Version is the official bible of NLBC for English-speaking people. It is the only Bible that will be used for preaching and teaching.
TRINITY
We believe that there is one God, eternal and self-existing in three persons the Godhead; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Mark 12:29, 2 Corinthians 13:14, 1 John 5:7)
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit is not an influence but a divine person, the third person of the God-head; as eternally existing with the Father and Son. He is the source and power of all acceptable worship and service. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates; - indwells, enlightens, and empowers the saved. (John 7:38-39, John 16:7-14, Acts 1:84)
JESUS CHRIST
We believe that all Scripture, from the first to the last, centers on our Lord Jesus Christ, teaching us of His Deity (that He is very God manifest in the flesh), His virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death, blood atonement on the cross, His bodily resurrection, ascension and present intercession at the right hand of God on behalf of believers; also His personal, imminent and premillennial coming again, the rapture, the judgment of nations, and His glorious reign of One Thousand years upon the earth. (Luke 24:27, John 1:1-4)
TOTAL DEPRAVITY
We believe that man who was created in the likeness and image of God fell under condemnation through sin and is now totally depraved in his natural condition. The spiritual death or total corruption has been transmitted to the human race as a result of the fall, the man Christ Jesus alone is accepted by God. (Genesis 1:26-27, Romans 5:12-18, Ephesians 2:2-5)
BLOOD ATONEMENT
We believe that salvation is possible only through the shed blood of Christ, i.e., by receiving Him as personal Savior and Lord. (Hebrews 9:22; Romans 5:9)
JUSTIFICATION
We believe that when men are born again by accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior, they are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ. No amount of works regardless of how great or how good will ever merit favor in the sight of God for man, but the child of God should be careful to maintain good works. (Ephesians 2:8-9, James 4:17)
RESURRECTION
We believe that the resurrection of the saved will take place at the coming of Christ. The just are to be caught up in the air with the then-living saints to enjoy everlasting peace with God. The unjust then are judged from the Great White Throne and suffer eternal separation from God in the lake of fire. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, Revelation 20:15)
ASSURANCE
We believe that those who are born again are privileged to be assured of their salvation from the very day they are saved. Furthermore, they are secure in the “Eternal Salvation” of divine provision and are kept by the unlimited power of God, the unbounded love of Christ, and the unbreakable seal of the Holy Spirit. (John 3:18, 36, 10:28-29; Jude 24)
THE CHURCH
We believe that the Church is a divine institution composed of all true believers and constitutes the Body of Christ. We are all baptized by the Spirit into one body and, therefore, being members of one another, we are responsible for keeping the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, loving one another with a pure heart. It is the duty of the Church to give the Gospel of Grace to the whole world, as the only message of salvation to man. (1 Corinthians 12:13, I John 3:14, Matthew 28:19)
SEPARATION
We believe that all the saved are called to live a life of separation from all worldly and sinful practices. (1 John 5:4, 21)
SANCTIFICATION
We believe that Scriptural sanctification is being set apart for holy use. It is perfect in Christ for the believer’s standing, it is progressive in the consecrated believer through the study of God’s Word and yielding to the Spirit of Christ, and it will be complete when we go to be with Christ and receive our glorified bodies. (1 Corinthians 1:2-4, 3:1-3, 2 Peter 3:18, John 3:2)
TWO NATURES
We believe that those who are saved possess two natures. They may be victorious over the old through the power of the new, but eradication of the old is unscriptural in the physical life. (Galatians 5:16-18, Romans 8:1, Romans 6:4, 11, 13)
SATAN
We believe that Satan is a personal, fallen, created being. The course of this world is under him as the “Prince of the Power of the Air”. He will finally be punished with eternal torment in the lake of fire. (Ephesians 2:2, Revelation 20:10)
AT DEATH
We believe that the souls of those who have trusted Christ do at death immediately pass into the presence of Christ and there remain in conscious bliss until His coming when the soul and body reunited, shall be associated with Him forever in glory; but the souls of the unbelievers remain after death in conscious misery until the judgment of the Great White Throne at the close of the Millennium, when soul and body reunited, shall be cast into the lake of fire (not annihilated) to be punished with everlasting separation from the presence of the Lord and the glory of His power. (2 Thessalonians1:7-9, Revelation 20:5)
ORDINANCES
We believe that baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances of Jesus Christ appointed in the Church and none but the true believers are subjects. (The scriptural mode of baptism is immersion in water - Matthew 28:19, Acts 8:36-39) (The Lord’s Supper - 1 Corinthians 11:23-26) We believe in open communion; meaning those who are not members of New Life Baptist Church may take part in our communion service as long as they have received Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.
